How to have fun

Fun. What a boring word. The word seems to have lost its meaning. And not like its transfered these to other vernaculars. Masti is quite pale these days. For the people who cant recall, Fun/Masti used to be a word associated with acts, active or passive, that induced a shortlived euphoria. Which in itself would have been fleeting, but the afterglow is what is prescribed since ancient times as medicinal, theraputic. The older one grows, there are two, simultaneous yet polar opposite dawnings. One is that you need good company to have fun. The other being you need only your own company to have fun. Two can defeat one as what if you are miserable company. In that case, as much as the good company you crave, if you are not considered one yourself, you find yourself self-loathing your being. This I can account to as being not much fun. Unless. Unless you realise the futility of your conclusion and end up laughing, after the tears have dried up ofcourse.

Ribald is another word that now seems to be banished behind closed walls, listening devices left outside lead doors. Open, un-inhibited. Seems like what we want are netflix specials. Which are not too good these days.

Content. How much is enough. And if its not, where do you get content you are content with. We've gone to villages for stories. We've done some urban bits, joint families. People seeking love, revenge, startup money, justice, carpets. Its all there. When do we get to a point where we are over saturated, numb. When what is going on in front of our eyes, our senses, is not enough. Do we live in a 5.1 surround world. Can we put a 16:9 frame over all we see? Or 1:1. Or 9:16. What's outside it is irrelevant.

How would this world be. Much more at peace. Imagine everyone just existing with a tunnel vision towards happiness. I mean with a high mortality rate ofcourse.  On the happiness index, we'd be on the top of the world. The grateful dead.

P.S - The above piece was written before I had seen SBAF, White Lotus and the movie NOPE. And since NOPE is the recentest, I'd like to give a review to this film. Hells Yes.
So ya, lot of content to be content with then, i guess. This post is what's referred to as #Latergram, first made aware to me by Parul, my forest trekking - lake swimming - environment protecting - cousin in Deutschland.
